I have been getting well over 10 or 15 requests a day on Google searches for a silly post I made one night with a netty pot. Or is it neti pot? Perhaps even netti pot, nettie pot, or netia pot. You see
what I am doing there. Yes indexing even more traffic merely by mentioning some ancient nasal technology. With pollen season in full bloom and Dr. Oz curing everything from genital warts to mild sinus congestion with a netty pot I suppose I may have hit Google gold with my seemingly silly sinus post. Lets go for more nasal networking shall we!
Nasal irrigation is an ancient Ayurvedic technique known as Jala neti, which literally means nasal cleansing with water in Sanskrit, where the practitioner uses a neti pot to perform the irrigation. Because modern medicine has long supported the use of nasal irrigation to clear sinuses and prevent sinus and nasal conditions, physicians also accept Jala neti as simply one type of nasal irrigation, which can be performed using a neti pot or syringe.
Jala neti, though relatively less known in Western culture, is a common practice in parts of India and other areas in South East Asia, performed as routinely as brushing one's teeth using a toothbrush. It is performed daily, usually as the first thing in the morning with other cleansing practices. It may also be performed at the end of the day if one works or lives in a dusty or polluted environment. When dealing with problems of congestion it can be performed up to four times a day.
I think that about covers it, a neti pot is basically a douche for your nose. If you're too cheap to go to the doctor, or the meth labs have run you out of real sudafed, you can hook this thing up and flush most of the crap right out of your skull. I personally think it burns like hell, and reminds me of doing cocaine mixed with glass, but hey, I didn't become the official king tut of the netty pots by whining did I? Snort!
