Still highly aglow from the Distant Worlds Houston trip just a few short months back, I recently checked my inbox; sorted through the Nigerians and teen porn only to find a special invite to pre-purchase Atlanta 2011 dates for the new tour! I hurriedly slammed out a credit card on some great orchestra level seats and sat back and let the winter take it's toll...
Fast forward to a rather cool spring weekend, and it's once again time to bathe in the glow of Nobuo Uematsu, and the master Arnie Roth. This is as close to a temple as I am going to get in regards to this show, as huge screens literally play out the action that is accompanying the musical scores. These are the soundtracks of my most warm and favored digital memories. They are live, they are great and it is always an emotional experience for me and those of the nerd persuasion around me. I have to admit I never realy understood the "concert goer" and all of his glee, lighter in hand... I mean, I enjoy live music, but these shows actual invigorate and bring up actual raw emotion in me. This is the melding of time, video and audio over countless battles and quests coming together for a short two hour night.
In regards to the Atlanta show, it was dead on perfect. You really get a full package with this playlist as there is Chorus, symphony, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, even a lengthy opera number from Final Fantasy VI. I really wish to thank the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Georgia Tech Choir for again bringing this masterful and rather difficult tracks of often just background music to life. This years set had a few small surprises as they added in two tracks from the MMO game Final Fantasy XIV Online, and wouldn't you know it, my home town in game was the featured track, so again the brutal winter did blow outside but the warm and salty digital world I sought solace in was brought to life right before my eyes with "Navigator's Glory - The Theme of Limsa Lominsa." The ASO also did a slower rendition (much like the FFVIII battle theme) of "Blinded by light" from the more current Final fantasy XIII battle theme.
The Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy Atlanta 2011 was a great success and I think it's safe to say everyone in attendance in one way or another did in fact level up:
My party and I (see what I did there) were also treated to not only wonderful seats in orchestra level, but suprisingly had invites on our seats to the post meet and greet. I can now report that I did indeed pull a douche cannon move off and have Nobuo san sign my new Nintendo 3DS. I also spoke with both Arnie and Nobuo in regards to my wedding plan to actually incorporate Final fantasy music into my procession, pre and post festivities. I can now report that Nobuo Uematsu feels strongly that the Chocobo theme is paramount for walk out music while Arnie Roth disagrees, as he tipped a glass of red wine he said "It's got to be Prelude." This was actually my first choice actually, and while I respect Nobuo san's opinion, I am unfortunately not marrying a feathered yellow beast so I think we will go forward with Prelude.

Bootleg:
( *A note on bootlegs, if you don't eventually buy the Distant Worlds music, or at least go to the shows, or at least buy all SquareEnix titles, I will hunt you down, your doom will be met with first a casting of Dia, followed by paralysis and eventual skull splitting via great axe, toodles!)
